Heal Emru
Reposting this ... Whether you are privileged to know Emru or not, registering as a bone marrow donor could save his life or someone else's. Note that the same restrictions for giving blood do not apply -- so you should check to see if you are eligible -- you might save someone's life.
Here is Emru talking about it:

IF Primitive
ahhh primitives. I love primitives ... Here is a new abstract one for Illustration Friday. Another case of not ending up where I thought it was going, but I like it, so there you go!
Now for the "old" primitives. Here are 3 "old" comics I created on the subject of primitives (some inside knowledge of 2D or 3D computer animation may be required for the motion capture and self-portrait ones):
And why not post one mutapic generated primitive image:

Mutapic - Forget me not!
I wanted to create a "forget me not" card today and went about it in my regular way, Painter! Here is my starting image from Painter.
Then, still in Painter, it became this :
And then for fun I took the first flower into Mutapic and played. The idea behind Mutapic is to generate a number of variations quickly. Here is a glimpse at the first set of variations:
From the variations I chose these:
and then these:
and then the final chosen one (well at least for the moment, I might change my mind, and I could always hit the generate or mutate button again ;o):
I think you need to go try it for yourself -- the mutapic online version is free.

Mutapic - variations on theme of Fail
Last week's IF theme was Fail and as I mentioned in my posting for it I tried using my friend Sylvain's new online tool Mutapic for it -- I thought I would post some of the preliminary results here.
The first idea that came out was "Fail to Quit Smoking", which now that I'm looking at the images I think worked really well -- at the time I thought the images were too "positive" towards smoking, but now that I think about it -- that would be "Fail to Quit"! Here are the smoking mutapic images:
Next is an x and o's game with no winner ...
Thanks again to Sylvain for this amazing idea generator!

Montreal Graffiti 1985-2005
I realize that the title of this post gives the impression that Montreal Graffiti was born in 1985 and died in 2005, and obviously that is not true. However, my photography collection of it started in 1985 and ended in 2005. I have thousands of photographs and have only scanned and uploaded 55 to Flickr so far. I won't upload them all, but there are a few more to come, I hope you enjoy them.

IF Fail
Somehow I think this could have been more "creative" but here it is, my contribution to this week's Illustration Friday theme of Fail. Ack, I guess that means I think I failed! ;o)
Also, I'd like to give a shout-out to an "idea-generating" tool that a friend of mine has just released -- it's called "Mutapic" and it takes shapes, icons, imported art and mixes and blends and mutates them into multiple variations ... I'm hoping that it will improve my backgrounds and layout/compositions. I used it today, not for the final artwork, but to kick start my ideas ... I don't know how much of an influence it had on this piece, but I think it is a great tool. Try it and see what you think.

IF Save
Here we go for this week's Illustration Friday. I translate "Sauve qui peut" as "Run for your life", but a literal translation could be "Save yourself if you can" ... Oh and I tried to give it a little bit of a sepia tone to honour A Sepia Colored Photo, the illustrator who suggested the theme!
and here is the sketch where it all started ...
